In my thirteenth year of egg donation, it is quite phenomenal to see how God works in our lives.
I have seen the anxiety, pain, anguish, desperation and despair when people are advised that they are infertile. The beauty of egg donation is that it turns this hopeless situation into one of possibility. We know that all life comes from God:
Genesis 2:7 then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
1 Timothy 6:13 I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontus Pilate made the good confession.
This means that we are working with what is available, but the breath of life still comes from our Almighty!
What great joy abounds when the news is positive, what gratitude and deep appreciation. How amazing that a young lady can elect to give a gift and she can only imagine the deep impact of how this deed can change a life forever. This is egg donation. It is giving, then possibly forgetting while another receives and her whole life is turned around from sadness into bliss, from a barren couple into a mom and dad and baby.
It is so wonderful that in South Africa these gifts are given anonymously. When Jesus preached on giving to the needy, he actually said:
Matthew 6:3 But when you give to the needy do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.
So the gift is given and received quietly.
I give thanks to Jesus, my King, for enabling these opportunities and for the people that cross my path. It is a privilege to work alongside the beautiful fertility clinics who care deeply for the turmoil of recipients hoping to conceive and watching how all involved employ the best efforts to help people so that a lady can say to her husband, we are going to become parents!
