I feel incredibly privileged to be a part of this amazing process to enable a loving mom to have a baby. I have a deep love for both science and children and it was fascinating to experience first hand how science has evolved the miracle of childbirth.
I am situated in Stellenbosch where I have a busy scheduled completing post-graduate studies, however due to the kind, professional and supportive staff at baby2mom and the Pinelands Aevitas the process was easy and did not interfere at all with my studies. I felt safe and taken care of the entire time and especially appreciated Dr Hulme and all the sisters involved taking pains to explain the details to me.
For the retrieval procedure I had to travel to Pretoria during a time when travelling was complicated as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic but despite this an very dedicated team made sure that everything went smoothly. My stay in Pretoria was very comfortable and a welcome break from my busy life.
As this was my first donation I was a little nervous but the staff in both cities took great care of me and discomfort after the procedure was the same as my normal menstrual pains, which was very easily handled with the medication proscribed.
I would definitely consider donating again, and my ultimate hope and prayer is that I will have contributed in a small part to the joy that comes from a new life.
