Extent of Egg Donor Screening:
 
All egg donors are screened and confirmed egg donors once they have passed assessments as follows:
  • Initial assessment by baby 2mom egg donor agency
  • The actual medical and psychological assessments for an egg donor may differ per ferility clinic, but likely to include the following:
    • Assessment by qualified psychologist or social worker
    • Medical assessment including blood results and internal scan. This includes assessment of all relevant hormone tests.
    • Medical professionals will also assess the overall information provided about the egg donor to determine whether the egg donor's medical history is of concern or will exclude her from egg donation. E.g. egg donors who carry genetic diseases will either be excluded from the egg donor program or this information will be disclosed to recipients of donor eggs that this is a risk. The same theory applies to depression.
      • Egg donors are carefully assessed. Women who are smokers may donate eggs. If a woman partakes in any thing that is deemed to adversely affect egg donation or egg development, they will be excluded from the egg donor program.
      • Egg donors who are older may not necessarily offer an improved option to assisting people conceive through egg donation. All egg donors are confirmed once having completed the above assessments. There is no guarantee that a younger egg donor may offer more and better quality eggs than an older egg donor. This once again becomes a personal decision.
      • Blood groups are not required to be matched at all. This information is provided for informative purposes. It will not in any way affect the outcome of the egg donor program.
  • Once an egg donor has been assessed and confirmed as an egg donor, then she is likely to produce good quality eggs and is considered psychologically and physically healthy.
  • All relevant medical background pertaining to the egg donor is made available to recipients of donor eggs.
  • If an egg donation recipient specifically requests medical tests to be done on an egg donor, these may be done with the egg donor's concent and at the recipient's costs.
  • Any egg donor screening and/ or associated tests are for the account of the egg donation recipient.
